BGMI 2.6 Update: Download Size, Requirements

Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) Early Access: How to Sign Up, If it Returns

Krafton’s Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) is all set to return very soon and according to the Government of India, BGMI’s comeback will be in the form of a three-month trial approval. In the coming days, the game will be receiving important updates, both gameplay and restrictions-wise. Once the updates are in place, BGMI will be up on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store for download. Interestingly, however, it looks like the game is already back on the Google Play Store. But once you download BGMI from the Google Play Store, you will notice that the servers are offline and that the gameplay restrictions are not in place yet.

A closed test version also went live with the client accidentally sending messages to a few users to download this test version. However, the link did not work. Krafton issued a statement to clarify this matter. “Currently, the closed test track for BGMI is updated. Those who opted for a public test for the game before its launch are expected to get a message which takes them to play store for downloading the game. However, the link won’t work and the game cannot be downloaded as the servers have been shut,” it read.

Despite a couple of hiccups lining the way, the highly anticipated return of BGMI is on the horizon and is expected to bring an updated version that could potentially be labeled as BGMI 2.6 much like PUBG Mobile. Here’s all we know about the BGMI 2.6 update so far.

BGMI 2.6 Update: All We Know So Far

While BGMI is back on the Play Store, the recently announced updates have not been rolled out yet. From censorship to spending limits, players can expect a number of major restrictions when logging into the game when the update goes live. Currently, as mentioned before, the servers have been taken down and are offline for maintenance and updating.

Apart from downloading from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, the developers of BGMI will most likely provide an APK on the official website for players to use as an alternative.

The APK download size of the BGMI 2.6 update is expected to be the same as the newly-released PUBG Mobile 2.6 update. Notably, this PUBG Mobile update went live on 17th May 2023. As a result, players can expect the compact version of BGMI to be around the size range of 600 MB to 700 MB.

For reference, the size of the PUBG Mobile compact APK is 691 MB and the regular APK is 1.28 GB. You just need to keep in mind that the only difference between the two is that you need to download additional files separately for the compact version.

Once you have downloaded the APK file, you will have to download a resource pack. You have the option to download either the low-spec resource pack or the HD resource pack. As a result, you will need at least 3 or 4 GB of storage space on your phone to install the APK and the resource pack.

BGMI: System Requirements for Android & iOS.

According to the official BGMI website, the following are the minimum specifications for BGMI.

  • Mobile OS: Android

  • Version: Android 4.3 or High

  • GPU: Adreno (TM) 306 or High

  • RAM: Min 1.5 GB RAM

  • iPhone: Requires iOS 9.0 or later

  • iPad: Requires iPadOS 9.0 or later

  • iPod touch: Requires iOS 9.0 or later.

  • RAM – Min 2 GB RAM

But keep in mind that these minimum system requirements were set by the developers when the game was released and hence upon launch, these could very well be updated when the game makes a return with BGMI 2.6.
