Amazon Prime Video has announced the streaming premiere of the highly anticipated DC Extended Universe film, Black Adam. The Dwayne Johnson-starrer film will be available on the streaming platform starting March 15, 2023. It will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on the platform.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam is an anti-hero film that tells the story of Teth Adam, who received powers of almighty gods in ancient Kahndaq, a fictional Middle-Eastern country. After misusing his powers, he was imprisoned for almost 5,000 years. The film follows a now-freed Black Adam on a rampage to serve his unique form of justice, challenged by modern-day heroes of The Justice Society.
In addition to Johnson, Black Adam’s star-studded cast also includes Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz, Marwan Kenzari as Sabbac, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate.
Black Adam is the first-ever film to explore the story of the DC character created by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck. The screenplay is written by Adam Sztykiel and Rory Haines & Sohrab Noshirvani.
The Black Adam film didn’t exactly win the box office over, and Johnson even confirmed that there will be no Black Adam in James Gunn’s initial DCU. In January 2023, news of the actor’s relationship souring with Warner Bros. came out, which you can read about here.
