Black Panther Producer Gives Update on Ironheart and Wakanda Disney Plus Shows

As Black Panther: Wakanda Forever makes its way to cinemas around the world next week, it is a no brainer that fans would like to know about its spinoff show as well. In February last year, director Ryan Coogler first mentioned a spinoff series set in Wakanda. Now, as the sequel to Black Panther is just around the corner, Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore gives an update on the show.

“Because of the amount of time and attention that went into this film, and frankly the Ironheart show, that is probably not as far along as people want it to be,” Moore told Collider in an interview. “But there are certainly great ideas that we’re still talking to Ryan about. So, we’ll see how far we can get with it.”

There is not much known about what the show could be about, but it does confirm that there is a lot in store for the Black Panther franchise. The show could be about the Dora Milaje as heroes and villains, or focus on the tribes of Wakanda. So far, Danai Gurira is confirmed for the spinoff series in which she would reprise her role as Okoye. Coogler will produce the TV show for Disney Plus.

Moore also elaborated on Ironheart, which will star Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams. He confirmed that the filming for the show is almost done: “It’s nearly complete. I think they might be on their second to last day, if I’m not mistaken.”

Ironheart was announced in December 2020 and is set to premiere on Disney Plus in late 2023. The show will consist of six episodes and will be part of Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
