EVOS Legends was criticized for allegedly abusing the hero Masha against ECHO in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Professional League Invitational (MPLI) 2022. Masha has a game breaking bug which causes the hero to receive a significant health boost whenever she dies in battle. The hero has been picked twice by the White Tigers which led various fans and esports personalities to call out the team for allegedly abusing the said bug. Following this, EVOS Legends’ head coach Bjorn “Zeys” Ong made a statement on his official social media handles and explained his side of the story, denying the allegations of intentionally exploiting the bug.
Did EVOS Legends cheat in the MPLI 2022 using the Masha bug exploit?
Coach Zeys explained the controversial Masha pick during EVOS Legends’ match against ECHO in the MPLI 2022. Through a Facebook post, the coach explained that the team did not pick Masha to exploit the bug.
“Following the controversy of ECHO vs. EVOS in MPLI, there was no intention to abuse any bug. Only intention was to invade,” stated coach Zeys.
During the match between EVOS Legends and ECHO, the White Tiger squad drafted Masha for Rizqi “Saykots” Damank for both the first two games. Fans observed that the pro player was highly aggressive as Masha which led to the allegations that Saykots was intentionally trying to exploit the bug and increase the hero’s bonus health.
Coach Zeys also denied the fake news that started spreading on social media regarding the team allegedly asking the tournament organizers to ban Masha in game three.
“The organizers wanted to open Masha but not activate the bug, which meant not dying at all which is close to impossible,“ explained Zeys.
He added that “Following that, the MPLI community and managers suggested it just be banned. We were fine with any actions.”
Other esports personalities also caught wind of the issue such as Bren Esports’ head coach, Francis “Duckeyyy” Glindro.
Despite his official statements, Zeus posted that fake news and rumors are still being shared around the MLBB community.
The discussion on why Masha was not banned from the MPLI 2022 is still being discussed by the MLBB community. Fans are still waiting for the bug to be fixed soon as it can also ruin ranked games or get players unintentionally banned if they are not aware of the bug exploit.
