Look alive, foolish mortals! Disney has released a teaser trailer for its new Haunted Mansion film, which will open in theaters on July 28.
It seems like the star-studded reboot is actually materializing and it’s not just our imagination, as a comically creepy new teaser has just dropped and it features plenty of nods to the classic theme park attraction, with appearances from a whole host of grim-grinning ghosts.
The footage offers a better look at the plot, which centers around a woman and her son as they enlist “a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters” — including the likes of the Black Widow Bride and the beloved Hatbox Ghost.
“As a lifelong fan of the Haunted Mansion attraction, I’m beyond excited to share the teaser trailer for our new film adaptation featuring an incredible cast,” said director Justin Simien. “Our team has worked tirelessly to create a scary, funny, and cinematic otherworldly adventure for both new and die-hard fans to enjoy! I can’t wait for audiences to experience this big screen version of the iconic Disney attraction.”
Alongside the teaser, Disney shared a striking new poster for the movie illuminating certain members of its all-star ensemble, including Danny DeVito, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, LaKeith Stanfield, Rosario Dawson, and Chase W. Dillion. Check it out below:
The film’s producers are Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, with Nick Reynolds and Tom Peitzman serving as executive producers. It joins several other Disney projects that are in the works, though some of those are still in production, and others are only in the very early scripting stages.
