HBO Issues Statement on Leaked House of the Dragon Finale [Update]

Update 10/21 2:22 pm PT: HBO has provided a statement regarding the leaked episode saying that the finale appears to have originated from an HBO distribution partner in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region (EMEA).

HBO says it’s “aggressively monitoring” and pulling copies of the episode from the internet and is disappointed the leak is ruining the highly-anticipated season finale. You can read HBO’s statement below:

“We are aware that the tenth episode of House of the Dragon has been posted on illegal torrent sites. It appears to have originated from a distribution partner in the EMEA region. HBO is aggressively monitoring and pulling these copies from the internet. We’re disappointed that this unlawful action has disrupted the viewing experience for loyal fans of the show, who will get to see a pristine version of the episode when it premieres Sunday on HBO and HBO Max, where it will stream exclusively in 4K.”


Original Story: The season finale for House of the Dragon has seemingly leaked online, meaning it won’t be long before spoilers begin making their way to social media.

As reported by social media users and verified by , early streams of House of the Dragon’s season 1 finale have made their way online. While we don’t want to share any more details, consider this a warning in case you’re hoping to go into Sunday’s finale blind.

The season 1 finale will show how Rhaenyra and the Black Targaryen faction will respond to last weekend’s coup by the Greens, who successfully crowned Aegon their king.

The episode was set to premiere this weekend, October 23, 2022 at 6 pm PT/9 pm ET. However, early versions of the episode are now online.

It’s unclear exactly how these made it online as the press were not given review screeners beforehand making the origins of the leaked finale a bit of a mystery.
