Hogwarts Legacy: HBO Max May Be Working on a TV Show as Players Cross 267 Million+ Hours in the Game and More

Hogwarts Legacy is reportedly going to get a TV show adaptation at HBO Max.

According to entertainment site Giant Freaking Robot‘s sources, the series is still in early phases of development. The show’s story is expected to be set before the original Harry Potter novels and Fantastic Beasts films.

Hogwarts Legacy is set in the 1800s and players can get to experience the same Harry Potter world that they millions grew up watching and reading about.

The game is a massive success, as it was one of the most anticipated titles of 2023 before launch. When the game came out on Early Access, it already had nearly 500,000 players. It also had 1.3 million viewers concurrent viewers on Twitch for Day 1 Early Access.

The report has excited fans of the game and the series in general, as it would expand upon the series’ world and lore in a television form.

The series would likely require a new cast of characters, just as Hogwarts Legacy introduces new characters in the game.

267 million hours played

Speaking about the game’s success, Hogwarts Legacy has over 267 million hours played since its launch this month.

David Haddad, the president of WB Games, commented on the player engagement and stated that they have tracked 152 million hours played, 115 million potions brewed, 173 million magical plants grown, and 556 million Dark Wizards defeated. These stats have since increased, according to the data provided to Variety by WB Games on Tuesday.

Haddad also expressed his pleasure with the game’s launch and noted that they see a bright future for their other platform launches.

Hogwarts Legacy is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in February. The game is set to launch for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch later this year.
