As presumed, the Magic V will feature a book-like folding system, with a triple rear camera array, and a textured pinstripe rear plate. We don’t get a good look at the front of the phone, but it does seem to harbor a substantial display. Expect more details from Honor ahead of the device’s launch.

Original article: December 22, 2021 (1:35 AM ET): Honor has been independent from Huawei for just about a year now, releasing the mid-range Honor 50 series and flagship Honor Magic 3 range among several other devices. Now, the company has revealed that it will launch its first foldable soon.

The Chinese manufacturer posted a teaser image on Weibo, confirming the Honor Magic V name and giving us a tantalizing glimpse at the device itself. You can view the picture below.

The image doesn’t really give us any hints as to whether this is a clamshell foldable or a book-style foldable in the vein of the Galaxy Z Fold line. But a July 2021 report by The Elec claimed that an upcoming Honor foldable will have an 8.03-inch foldable screen with ultra-thin glass and a 6.45-inch external display. So it sounds like you should expect a Fold competitor.

The text in the accompanying post doesn’t give us an exact release date, simply saying it will be released “soon.” In any event, we hope that the foldable is released outside Honor’s home market too, as we’ve seen several manufacturers launching foldables in China only.
