TSM FTX India has signed former Global Esports analyst Shubham “Mayavi” Chawla as a coach for its BGMI roster. It released a two-minute announcement video welcoming its new coach to the organization. The description of the video reads, “Finally, after a lot of waiting and patience, today we would like to welcome him into our TSM India Family.”
TSM FTX India Signs Mayavi as a coach for its BGMI roster
Shubham “Mayavi” Chawla is a professional BGMI Caster, Analyst, and Coach. Before joining TSM FTX India, he was a part of Global Esports as an Analyst for over a year. Under his guidance, Global Esports showed an amazing improvement and won multiple tournaments, including BGMI Masters Series 2021. As a result, Global Esports became one of the best BGMI teams during his tenure. However, Mayavi unexpectedly parted ways with Global Esports in August 2022.
TSM FTX formed its current BGMI roster in July 2021 by acquiring four underdog players. The team has shown an impressive performance since its acquisition and won multiple titles. In June 2022, Arjun “SHADOW” Mandhalkar left the team, and Chirag “Wanted” Dua joined as a replacement. As a result, the team started struggling, and its performance degraded. The team failed to qualify for multiple championship titles and has been showing a mediocre performance since then. With the addition of Mayavi, the team will hope to return to its original form.
Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) was removed from Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store in late July 2022 without any announcement. However, in response to an RTI request, MeitY revealed that the game had been blocked in India under Section 69A of the IT Act 2000. Signing Mayavi amid the uncertainty of BGMI seems like a bold move from TSM FTX India. Although a lot of creators are claiming that the game will eventually return, there hasn’t been any official announcement from Krafton. Furthermore, many creators and professional players have already made plans for their future if the game does not come back.
