Metal Gear Solid 3: False Remake Rumours Flooded the Internet Briefly Before Reality Killed the Hope

Players recently witnessed a glimmer of hope, but that came crashing down almost instantly. Through a now deleted video, players thought that a remake for Metal Gear Solid: 3 was in the works, but the video seems to be fake and there is no concrete source that is pointing towards the development of a Metal Gear Solid: 3 Remake.

The information came from renowned leaker, Dusk Golem, and according to his information, it seemed that Virtuos, a game developer headquartered in Singapore, released a teaser video that was quickly deleted from social media. Once you reveal information, it does not escape the internet and naturally, players were able to copy the video.

Through the video they learned that there was some information relayed to them in morse code. When decoded, December 8, 2022, was the date that stood out. Coincidentally, this is the same date when The Game Awards are scheduled to take place. So many players put two and two together and speculated that a Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake reveal will be announced at the upcoming awards show.

This was far from the truth as many players were eventually able to understand that the video was fake. The video’s source was found to be Quixel, that had released a video about a free Unreal Engine 5 assets pack, which included the renderings of the Megascans Trees: The European Hornbeam forest biome in UE5. The style and aesthetic of this video made many feel that this could be taken from the Metal Gear Solid game.

There was another detail that pointed towards Virtuos developing the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake. This came from their recent YouTube upload, which consisted of some words from one of the concept artists, Louis-Alex Boismenu. If you look closely at his setup, you can see a book labeled, “The Art of Metal Gear Solid.” Many spotted the book and felt that the remake is for sure in development, but it seems this is just Metal Gear Solid Memorabilia that the artist owned. You can see it at the 1:14 mark in the video embedded below:
