Orangutan is one of the veteran esports organizations in India. It has fielded a roster in the Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) title since the launch of the game. Its BGMI lineup had a good mix of seasoned as well as young and talented players. It was one of the consistent BGMI teams in 2022, but its performance in some of the major LAN events was inconsistent.

Orangutan parts ways with Ash, Drigger and Coach Vedzz from its BGMI roster

The post shared by Orangutan read, “We appear to you today with mixed feelings. Our BGMI team recently competed in the Battlegrounds India Series 2024. Unfortunately, our journey ended sooner than we expected, with our exit in Round 3.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Ash, Driger, AKop, Wizzgod and Coach Vedzz for their dedication and hard work over the past 3 years. They’ve helped mold Orangutan into what it is today, and their efforts will be cherished forever.”

“Following the event, we came together as a team to reflect and engage in a meaningful discussion. It’s never easy to say goodbye to teammates who have been such an integral part of our journey. But, in the spirit of growth and progress, we have mutually decided to part ways with Ash, Driger, and Coach Vedzz. AkOP and Wizzgod will continue to be the backbone of Orangutan’s BGMI roster.

Looking forward, our goal remains unchanged: to represent India on the global stage. To make this happen, we are shaking things up within our BGMI roster. Change can be uncertain, but it’s all part of our journey towards greatness. We will be adding new players to our roster, athletes who share our vision and will help us achieve excellence.”

“Orangutan is as committed as ever to our mission. We’re here to stay, to learn, and most importantly, to make our nation proud. Your support keeps our spirits high, and together, we will create the next chapter of Orangutan.”

  • Ashish “Ash” Bhatnagar.

  • Faraz “Wizzgod” Khan.

  • Shubham “Drigger” Quiriyal.

  • Ankit “Akop” Shukla.

  • Vedang “Vedzz” Chavan (Coach).

Since the return of BGMI in May 2023, Orangutan has had mixed performances across events. It was able to win a couple of major third party events and also grabbed a podium finish in the Battlegrounds Mobile India Masters Series (BGMS) 2023 Season 2. It was unable to qualify for the first official BGMI event of 2023, Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023 event and was also eliminated from the BGMI Pro Series (BMPS) 2023 event. Its performance in Round 3 of BGIS 2024 was also underwhelming after which the organization parted ways with Ash, Drigger and Vedzz.
