TL;DR

  • A new rumor suggests what some of the Google Pixel 6a specs could be.
  • It looks like it could land with the same Google Tensor chipset of the main phones.
  • However, the camera system could be borrowed from earlier Pixel phones.

Now, we have our first rumors related to the Google Pixel 6a specs. The folks over at 9to5Google claim to know these specs through an APK teardown. While 9to5Google is a reliable site and the team seems very confident that these specs are accurate, they are still rumors and should be treated as such.

Leaked Google Pixel 6a specs

According to 9to5Google, the Google Pixel 6a could have the same processor as the main Pixel 6 phones. That would be the Google Tensor chipset, Google’s first self-made CPU.

This is an interesting rumor since it would make the A-series device quite powerful with flagship-level processing. It would also be the first time an A-series phone has had the same processor as the main Pixel devices.

However, the Google Pixel 6a specs might not totally match those of the main series. According to 9to5Google, the camera systems on the front and rear of the phone would more closely match those of previous Pixel phones. That means no 50MP primary sensor and older hardware in general.

Specifically, this is what the rumors suggest:

  • 12.2MP Sony IMX363 primary
  • 12MP Sony IMX386 ultra-wide
  • 8MP Sony IMX355 selfie

If these Google Pixel 6a specs related to the cameras pan out, the phone would have a rear system akin to a Google Pixel 5 and a front-facing camera borrowed from the vanilla Pixel 6.

We’ll need to wait and see if these rumors pan out. In the meantime, stay tuned for more Pixel 6a leaks which are sure to come at a relentless pace over the next few months.
