Sony Removes Neil Druckmann Interview After “Significant Errors”

Sony has taken down its interview with Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann after finding with it claims were “significant errors and inaccuracies” in the interview. It comes just days after Druckmann, himself, took to Twitter to clarify statements that were attributed to him.

“In re-reviewing our recent interview with Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann, we have found several significant errors and inaccuracies that don’t represent his perspective and values (including topics such as animation, writing, technology, AI, and future projects),” Sony said.

“We apologize to Neil for misrepresenting his words and for any negative impact this interview might have caused him and his team. In coordination with Naughty Dog and SIE, we have removed the interview.”

One of the biggest concerns from the, now removed, interview was an apparent quote from Druckmann saying that his new game could “redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming”. Ultimately, however, it was shown that Druckmann never said the quote attributed to him by Sony. He was also attributed to saying that AI would “revolutionize” how games were made in general.

Other examples of the “significant errors” were mentioned by Druckmann or Sony, but it seems as though the interview not only paraphrased, but created new statements from Druckmann entirely. Whether this was intentional by the writer or another tool was used is unknown.

Flizzyy has reached out to Sony for more clarification on what the other inaccuracies found in the interview were. Should we receive a response, this article will be updated.
