The inaugural Valorant Champions Tour Game Changers Championship reached new highs in terms of viewership for the female and marginalised genders side of the game. According to Esports Charts, a whopping 239,334-viewer peak was recorded during Sunday’s finale between G2 Gozen and Shopify Rebellion.

“240,000 peak viewership is nuts,” Game Changers commentator and analyst Geo ‘Geo’ Collins tells The Loadout, “and it honestly makes me so proud knowing people are tuning in because they know they’re going to see genuinely great Valorant.”

The previous record peak was set during the VCT 2022 Game Changers East Asia Final, with 66,271 people tuning in to witness FENNEL Female’s victory over Spear Gaming Female at its apex.

Averaging 114,914 viewers across the week-long tournament, the VCT 2022 Game Changers Championship is the most-watched event in the circuit’s history by far.

Culminating with a five-game thriller, which saw G2 Gozen eventually lift the Game Changers Championship trophy, the Berlin-based event played host to the top eight teams from across the globe.

The final itself didn’t disappoint. Despite Shopify Rebellion taking a two map lead, G2 Gozen managed to complete the reverse sweep. Fans were even treated to a Reyna mirror matchup on the final map – rest in peace those Valorant ranked lobbies.

Knowing there’s a clear appetite for the Game Changers scene among fans, it remains to be seen if Valorant developer Riot Games will be planning something even bigger for 2023.
