Virat Kohli’s World Cup Victory Post Becomes India’s Most-Liked On Instagram, Surpasses Kiara-Sidharth’s Wedding Photo

Virat Kohli marked the occasion by sharing an emotional note on Instagram, where he also announced his retirement from the T20 format. His heartfelt post has now become the most-liked Instagram post in India, amassing over 18 million likes.

Virat Kohli’s post has overtaken the record previously held by Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani’s wedding photo, which garnered over 16 million likes.

The cricket star’s post included a photo of himself and his teammates rejoicing with the trophy and several pictures of the jubilant locker room celebrations. Kohli captioned the post,

“Couldn’t have dreamt of a better day than this. God is great and I bow my head in gratitude. We finally did it 🇮🇳❤️🇮🇳❤️ jai hind ❤️❤️❤️.”

In 2023, Sidharth and Kiara set the record for the most-liked Instagram post in India after their marriage on February 7, captivating fans with their stunning wedding photos. Prior to their post, Alia Bhatt held the record with 13.19 million likes on her wedding photo with Ranbir Kapoor.

Despite Kohli’s post gaining substantial traction, it remains far behind Lionel Messi’s record-breaking post celebrating Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup victory, which has over 75.3 million likes, making it the most-liked post of all time.

Virat Kohli also dedicated a post to his wife, actress Anushka Sharma, following the win. Sharing a photo with her, he wrote,

“None of this would remotely be possible without you, my love. You keep me humble, grounded, and always tell it like it is with absolute honesty. I couldn’t be more grateful for you. This victory is as much yours as it is mine. Thank you and I love you for being YOU ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ @anushkasharma.”

Earlier, Anushka had also posted a photo of Virat with the World Cup trophy, captioning it,
