The newlyweds performed their first dance at the reception held at Bastian in Mumbai. A video shared by Voompla showed Sonakshi blushing as Zaheer gently touched her face during their performance to Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s popular song ‘Afreen Afreen’.

The star-studded reception saw numerous celebrities, including Salman Khan, Vidya Balan, Rekha, Huma Qureshi, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aditya Roy Kapur, Tabu, and Anil Kapoor.

Despite facing some unwarranted trolling due to their interfaith marriage, Sonakshi and Zaheer married under the Special Marriage Act at Sonakshi’s house in Mumbai. Zaheer’s father, Iqbal Ratansi, clarified that Sonakshi would not be converting to Islam, emphasizing that the marriage is a union of hearts beyond religious boundaries.

Zaheer’s father told the Free Press Journal,

“It will have neither Hindu nor Muslim rituals. It will be a civil marriage. She is not converting, and that is for sure. Theirs is a union of hearts, and religion has no role to play whatsoever. I believe in humanity. God is called Bhagwan by Hindus and Allah by Muslims. But at the end of the day, we are all human beings. My blessings are with Zaheer and Sonakshi.”
