Battlegrounds Mobile India Pro Series (BMPS) 2023 is just around the corner and with the rising anticipation for the teams participating, Krafton has revealed the format for the upcoming event. The event will start on 22nd November and go on till 17th December. The team winning the event will take home a massive sum of INR 40 Lakhs.Â
After the format was revealed many well known Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) esports athletes spoke up about the massive overhaul of the format.
BMPS 2023 format overhaul causes a fierce debate among esports athletes
The format introduced for the BMPS 2023 event has ignited a debate among well known esports athletes as this format presents a severe challenge for the participating teams.
Ammar “Destro” Khan the In Game Leader (IGL) of Gladiators Esports also shared his thoughts and said, “And here I thought the format for BGIS 2023 was tough.”
The format for the BMPS 2023 is a unique one where 96 teams have been invited to the event. The 96 teams will be divided into 12 groups of 8 each. The 12 groups will be divided further into two more groups named Blue Group and Red Group. The Blue Group will consist of groups 1 to 6 and the Red Group will feature groups 7 to 12.
The Blue Group and Red Group will be playing in a round robin format for 3 weeks with 3 match days in a week. Based on the week’s overall standings plus the bonus points the groups will be reshuffled for the next week. After Week 3 concludes, the top 16 teams from the overall standings will proceed to the Grand Finals.
It is to be noted that each team will have 15 matches to secure their place in the Grand Finals but teams will have to keep an eye on other groups as well, as the groups for Week 2 and 3 will be reshuffled. The event also boasts a massive prize pool of INR 1 Crore but this is a reduction in comparison to the BMPS 2022 which boasted a prize pool of INR 2 Crores.
