Xbox CVP Kareem Choudhry Leaves Microsoft, Report States

There is a major leadership shakeup happening at Microsoft as Xbox corporate vice president (CVP) Kareem Choudhry is leaving the company after 26 years.

According to a new report from Windows Central’s Jez Corden, Choudhry is leaving as part of a company effort to “streamline processes and help Microsoft accelerate plans for growth for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox hardware, and more.”

During his time with Microsoft, Choudhry lead the company’s backward compatibility for Xbox, Xbox Cloud Gaming, and even the company’s new XEmTech AI division. With his departure, the XEmTech team will be moved within the general Xbox hardware team that is led by Roanne Sones, Corden says.

“In an internal memo described to us, Microsoft noted that moving the AI team underneath the hardware ecosystem will accelerate innovation in that space,” Corden’s report reads.

The report also says that a new internal organization known as Xbox Experiences and Platforms is being created and led by Kevin Gammill and Ashley McKissick. The new team will work on “polishing the overall Xbox experience across Windows and Xbox consoles.” Other moves include Catherine Gluckstein moving to lead the Xbox Strategy and Regulatory team as well as Jennifer Creegan moving to lead analytics and business planning for Microsoft Gaming.
