There are heaps of shooters to sink hours into these days, many of them often in the conversation for the best FPS games ever made. Stepping up to tackle the likes of Counter-Strike Global Offensive and Valorant, developer Mountaintop Studios announces a fresh PvP tactical shooter that aims to evolve the genre onto fresh ground.
Currently untitled, the upcoming shooter brings together talent that has worked on Battlefield, Apex Legends, Call of Duty, Halo, and Overwatch. Game director Lee Horn expresses that the project will feature “genre evolutions that are going to blow your mind.” Horn details that the goal of the project “is to create games where you can easily spend 10,000 hours playing and still feel like there’s more to master.”
With “significant emphasis on creating regular community competition,” Horn says the shooter encourages players to “leave a lasting mark on our world.” According to its website, Mountaintop Studios says that it “started the studio in mid-2020 and development has been fully-remote since day one.”
Better yet, if you’re eager to be part of this actively changing community, Horn reveals that playtest sign-ups for the forthcoming FPS are live now. You can sign up here to get in on the action. Playtests for the game will be on PC at present, but while console details are yet to be specified, it is possible that the console version will be revealed down the line.
However, if you’ve got a fairly decent PC setup, here are the minimum specifications for running it:
- Operating System: Windows 10 or above
- Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD processor
- Memory: 16GB RAM
- Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 1080 or AMD Radeon RX 5700
- Internet connectivity: Persistent broadband internet connection
The playtest will be conducted on Friday, August 25, 2023, until Saturday, August 26, 2023. Until then, you can get your FPS fix elsewhere, as Activision is planning to unveil the Modern Warfare 3 reveal, in a special event in Warzone.
