The Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023 Grand Finals wrapped up with Gladiator Esports being crowned as the champions of the tournament. Their remarkable ascension was solidified after a nail-biting competition with Big Brother Esports, ending the series with a slim margin of just 9 points. Gladiator Esports secured 200 points from eighteen matches, while Big Brother Esports, with three chicken dinners, finished at 191 points. Not far behind, Team X Spark clinched the third position with 173 points.
Gladiator Esports took home a massive sum of INR 75 lakh as prize winnings. Big Brother Esports placed second and won INR 35.5 lakhs while Team X Spark got INR 25 lakhs for finishing third. Saif from Big Brother Esports was crowned as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Grand Finals and while teammate Parth “DeltaPG” Garg was revealed as the MVP of the tournament.
Gladiator Esports and Big Brother Esports’ fight for the championship
Match 1 saw Big Brother Esports secure 8 points which helped it maintain its number one spot. On the other hand Gladiator Esports did not have the best start to the day as it was eliminated with just 2 points. Team X Spark meanwhile secured a massive 29 points from the match and moved to the second spot in the overall standings.
Big Brother Esports made a comeback in the second match and secured an important 26 point chicken dinner which helped it to extend its lead further. Gladiator Esports also made a comeback and grabbed 13 points.
In the map of Sanhok, Gladiator Esports and Big Brother Esports showed some amazing rotations securing 10 points each. It helped Big Brother Esports consolidate its position at the top of the table furthermore.
The fourth match of the day helped Gladiator Esports to come close to Big Brother Esports and challenge them for the top spot. In the match of Vikendi Gladiator Esports was able to secure 14 points whereas Big Brother Esports suffered early elimination with 4 points.
The penultimate match of the Grand Finals was the most important as Gladiator Esports closed down on the lead made by Big Brother Esports. It was able to secure 13 points and Big Brother Esports again were not able to put forth a good performance and were eliminated with 4 points. The points difference between both the teams was reduced to a mere 4 points.
The last match of the Grand Finals was crucial for both the teams as it was anyone’s trophy to take home. The last map of Erangel saw a Military Island zone and considering it was Gladiator Esports’ drop location, it made them favorite to gain maximum points from the match. It was able to secure 14 points from the match and rose to the top of the table. Big Brother Esports on the other hand decided to rotate to the Military island using a boat, but it suffered a man loss while rotating and soon after it was also eliminated as it came in a crossfire between two other teams. It was able to secure only a single point from the match.
Overall BGIS 2023 will be remembered not just for the intense rivalries among seasoned teams, but also for the emergence of new teams that stunned veterans and thrilled audiences.
