Atari Has Brought Infogrames Back to Life

In the 1980s, Infogrames Entertainment was coming up as a prominent player in the video game industry. It would go on to be a major contributor to the growth and popularisation of games, before undergoing a mass redesign at the turn of the millennium and adopting an Atari-themed brand. By 2009, Infogrames Entertainment had ceased to exist, with financial turmoil and many chops and changes altering the face of the company – now known as Atari SA – forever.

Following an extensive turnaround strategy and a few new appointments in the leadership team, Atari SA has just announced a revitalisation of the Infogrames label. It’ll be brought back to life as a publishing brand – and Atari SA has already acquired Totally Reliable Delivery Service from TinyBuild to kickstart that operation.

Back Up

Infogrames was responsible for developing and publishing more than 200 games during its lifetime, some of which are still going strong today. Here are some of the most iconic titles created and marketed by Infogrames Entertainment:

  • Alone in the Dark
  • Driver
  • Enter the Matrix
  • Hogs of War
  • Neverwinter Nights
  • Outcast
  • RollerCoaster Tycoon
  • Sonic Advance
  • Stuntman
  • Unreal Tournament
  • V-Rally

Atari became one of the most beleaguered companies in the industry, entering bankruptcy and falling on hard times on several occasions. In recent years, the company has righted the ship somewhat, but there’s still a lot of work to be done. This revitalisation of Infogrames – even in a lesser role than it previously existed – is an indication of Atari SA’s intention to get back to where it once sat: fairly close to the top of the industry.

Let’s wait and see what they get to cooking at Infogrames.
