Valorant’s new Team Deathmatch maps are all suspiciously familiar
Riot Games’ Valorant is getting a little bigger by the time the Episode 7 release date rolls around. With new game mode Team Deathmatch debuting alongside some interesting progression changes, there’s going to be a new place to get together with your squad and play. Of course, if you’re just focused on climbing Valorant’s ranks, you can hop into it solo too. Either way, this mode is going to add a lot to Valorant and Riot Games has finally detailed how it’s going to work – and it’s revealed the first three custom-built Team Deathmatch maps for the mode.
When you jump into Valorant’s Team Deathmatch mode, you’ll find yourself playing on three maps: Piazza, District, and Kasbah. The names might feel a little unfamiliar to you, but the maps themselves shouldn’t take you too long to get comfortable with. Piazza is made up of a modified section of Ascent, custom-built for TDM.
Similarly, District is a Team Deathmatch map based on Split – or, at least, parts of it – and Kasbah is made up of a section of Bind, which again has been modified specifically to suit Team Deathmatch gameplay.

If you’re someone who has played any one of the best competitive FPS games out there with a Team Deathmatch mode – whether that be Modern Warfare 2, Overwatch 2, or even Rainbow Six Siege – you’ll know more-or-less what to expect from Valorant’s take on TDM. However, that doesn’t mean this is going to be exactly what you expect.
Each match of Valorant’s Team Deathmatch is going to take place over four stages – each stage offering players a different selection of weapon loadouts. Stage One is all about pistols, Stage Two will see the Ares, Stinger, and Sheriff take the stage. In Stage Three, the Ares is back alongside the Bulldog, Guardian, and Spectre. Then, in Stage Four, it’s all about the Phantom and the Vandal. As a 5v5 mode with a 100-kill score limit and respawns as fast as 1.5s, this is going to be fast and quite-possibly furious for those of you diving in with your best Valorant crosshair settings ready to go.
You’ll also be pleased to know that Agent abilities are still going to be available, and will reset periodically throughout the match. So, taking another look at our Valorant Agent tier list ahead of Episode 7 and the release of TDM might be a good idea. We’re expecting a few changes in the next set of patch notes, but we feel like it’s going to take quite a lot to shift the current meta.
With weapon spawners littering each map alongside both recovery and ultimate orbs, getting used to these altered locations is certainly going to be useful. However, it shouldn’t take too long. As mentioned above, and as hinted at by this teaser trailer, these appear to be alternate Earth versions of maps we know and (maybe) love. So, they’re going to feel a little more familiar than a set of new maps might.
On top of all this, Valorant is getting a new progression system – which should offer players even more ways to earn sweet rewards while they play. Introducing Kingdom Credits, a new earnable currency, players will be able to tackle new daily missions and Checkpoints (new daily milestones) to unlock a number of accessories and agents in-game. If you’re someone who plays regularly, this really could be a fantastic addition to Valorant. However, only time will tell how worthwhile it actually is.
So, is this going to be a good place to show off your new Valorant skins? Well, if you’re someone who frequents the Night Market, perhaps. Although, you should be prepared to die quite a lot. If the core game mode is anything to go by, this could get quite chaotic. However, sorting out your Valorant FOV settings is certainly one way you can prepare yourself for this new game mode and the upcoming progression changes.
