The Pokemon Company Says They Will Investigate Palworld For IP Infringement - Insider Gaming

Palworld is officially on the radar of The Pokemon Company.

Wednesday night in the United States ā€” midday in Japan ā€” The Pokemon Company put out its first public statement on Palworld since the game launched into early access last week.

In its statement, The Pokemon Company says that it has received ā€œmany inquiriesā€ regarding the game ā€” while not directly mentioning Palworld by name ā€” and hasnā€™t granted any sort of permission to use its asset in the game. Because of the concerns from people about Palworld using assets from Pokemon for its game, the company says it will investigate the game and its developer for any potential IP infringement.

The full statement is as follows:

ā€œWe have received many inquiries regarding another companyā€™s game released in January 2024. We have not granted any permission for the use of PokĆ©mon intellectual property or assets in that game.

We intend to investigate and take appropriate measures to address any acts that infringe on intellectual property rights related to the PokĆ©mon. We will continue to cherish and nurture each and every PokĆ©mon and its world, and work to bring the world together through PokĆ©mon in the future.ā€

Whether anything comes of the investigation remains to be seen. For now, Palworld will continue to enjoy the success itā€™s had since its release. Pocketpair will also continue to work on the game and its features, as outlined in its new roadmap.
